Buying for a new driver in a Shen family
Clifton Park sends a lot of first-time drivers onto the road, and the conversation is always the same three questions: has this car actually been gone through, what happens when something breaks, and is it safe enough that I can stop thinking about it.

The cheap car that costs you, and the one that doesn't
The instinct when buying for a teenager is to spend as little as possible on the theory that they will damage it anyway. Spending less is sound — the risk is a car that is cheap because nobody reconditioned it, and the repair bill lands a few months later, usually on the side of the Northway at an inconvenient hour.
The second kind is the one we list. The work gets done before the car goes up, at every price we stock — which is generally the lowest number over three years, whatever the sticker says on the day.

Prioritise condition and safety systems over price. A reconditioned late-model compact or small crossover with modern airbags and stability control, a clean CARFAX and a warranty behind it beats an older, cheaper car with an unknown maintenance history.
