Founded in Scotia in 1955 by Charles Fogg Jr. as a two-bay service station, it now operates a 28,000 square foot sales and service center with 25 lifts, serving Schenectady, Glenville, Saratoga Springs, Albany and the wider Capital Region.

Charles Fogg Jr. opened a service station in Scotia with two bays and no showroom. Selling cars came later — the business started by fixing them, which is a large part of why it still runs a service department bigger than most dealerships do.

The sales and service center sits in Glenville, north of the Mohawk, with 25 lifts across 28,000 square feet including the mezzanine. It is unusual scale for an independent used dealer, and it is what makes reconditioning every retail vehicle in-house realistic rather than aspirational.

The cars we refuse to buy
Used prices have climbed, and the cheap end of the market is cheap because nobody reconditioned it. We do not stock those cars. It means our prices are not the lowest on a comparison site, and it is the only way to put a lifetime engine warranty on something and mean it.

We still host dinners for people who bought cars decades ago
Fogg's runs bi-monthly Customer for Life dinners — not a promotion, just the relationships a business accumulates when it stays in one place for seventy years and the same families keep coming back. Plenty of our customers are the second generation of their family to buy here.
It is also the honest reason we are careful about what we sell. You cannot run that kind of business on a car that fails in April.
